Boric Acid
Boric acid (H3BO3) is an inorganic boron compound occurring naturally as the mineral sassolite, consisting of white, odorless, flaky crystals.
It is used in water treatment, as a neutron absorber in nuclear reactors, and as a fluxing agent in metallurgy.
Uses and Benefits
•Lowers the melting temperature of glass fibers and borosilicate glass while increasing thermal and chemical resistance.
•Meets the boron requirements of plants to support flower and fruit development.
Applications
✓In the production of heat-resistant kitchen glass (Pyrex) and fiberglass insulation materials.
✓In impregnation solutions protecting wood materials against fungal decay and insect attacks.
